About Woolworths
So, what unique deals can you get from Woolworths (or, as just about everyone in the UK knows it, Woolies)? Well, needless to say, they specialise in pay as you go mobile phones, and what they’re best at is the budget end of the market. That doesn’t mean they’ve not got cool phones, though, because they do have some stunners. Take for example the Motorola RIZR, also known as the Z3, a beautiful slidephone that will really set you our as an individual!
Perhaps music is your life, and if that’s the case, then Woolworths has the mobile phone for you, in the form of the Sony Ericsson W300i, a cute, little Walkman flip-phone. Take a look at that cute little body, packed with a host of cool features like a camera to grab those magic moments before they disappear, the Walkman music player to fill your ears with superb sounds, and an FM radio for those rare moments when your music collection runs out.
In fact, why not go full-on into a musical world with the Woolworths-exclusive Nokia 7360 High School Musical Edition, a package that not only contains the wonderfully cute and pretty Nokia 7360, but also a High School Musical mobile phone charm and phone sock to store your new mobile in. Not just that, but also you get, courtesy of Woolworths, 2 wallpapers on the phone, 2 screensavers and a special polyphonic ringtone, all from the film, letting you personalise your mobile phone to your heart’s content!
The history of Woolworths
So, who are Woolworths? Well, you’ve no doubt seen them on the high street, their stores get everywhere, and you can see them in just about any major town or city. They’re big, big advocates of value, and if you buy from Woolworths, that’s what you can expect: superb value. Oh, and they’re geared very much towards families, and you can see that in their product lines, like Ladybird kids’ clothes, Chad Valley toys, and their WorthIt! Value ranges.
Mind you, they do also do electronics goods, and if you go into a Woolworths store, you’ll find aisles of DVD’s, Playstation games, Xbox’s, Wii’s… and mobile phones. But like all the key things in Woolworths’ product range, those mobile phones are geared towards superb value and ‘family markets’, such as the youth market. You just need to look at the High School Musical gift pack mobile phones to see that!
So, what about the history of Woolworths? Where did they come from, and where are they going?
Well, they were originally part of one of the first retail chains in the history of ever, the F.W.Woolworth Company, founded in the USA in 1878, a company that grew massive, and even had their own skyscraper, the Woolworth building, in New York. That state of affairs lasted until 1982, when Woolworths Group Uk split away, and became their own entity. Since then, they’ve continued to be one of the UK’s leading retailers.
Nowadays, they’re as likely to be remembered for their cute TV adverts as their superb value, starring Wooly the sheep and Worth the sheepdog. Featuring such A-list stars as Jackie Chan and Darth Vader, they show the fun side of Woolworths. We’ve yet to see mobiles phones in those adverts, but hey, they did burn their toast and do a dark side joke in the Darth Vader one.
