About Nokia

As a 100% independent comparison site, we’ve compared all the best Nokia mobile phone deals, giving you the best chance of finding your perfect Nokia deal, without trying to tell you what’s best for you. We’ll help you make the best, most informed decision, and give you everything you need, including all the knowledge on Nokia.

Well, they’re the most famous name in the history of mobile phones, and it’s fair to say, if you’ve heard of mobile phones, you’ve heard of Nokia. They’re definitely the biggest name in phones, and one of the biggest innovators, too. You want evidence of that? Check out the Nokia N82, a groundbreaking, powerful, and really rather sexy phone. The features list starts with a 5 megapixel camera, and then sort of builds up from there. So, you also get built-in GPS, Ngage game downloads and an awesome range of music and video playback. It’s easily one of the smartest smartphones ever made.

However, not all of Nokia’s offerings sit up the top-end of the spectrum. Some of their biggest sellers sit right in the mid-ranges, phones like the gorgeous Nokia 6300. With its stupendously lovely metal body, that also happens to be remarkably slim, cool 2 megapixel camera and super-duper value for money, it’s hardly surprising, really, that it sold by the bucket load! People really took to it, and flocked to buy one, in droves. And who can blame them, because it is, as we sometimes remark, “a proper little stunner”!

But, of course, the biggest success story in Nokia’s product range over the last few years has been the fabulous Nseries, the family that includes the aforementioned top-end Nokia N82. However, the current leader of the Nseries pack is the downright awesome Nokia N95 8Gb. It shares the same 5 megapixel camera with its top-end sibling, the same fabulous GPS, and the same HUGE array of music and video options. Oh, and TV-Out. And a gorgeous, ‘dual-slide’ form factor. But the big difference is in the memory, as the Nokia N95 8Gb has (you probably guessed this from the name) a massive 8Gb of memory built in. Who needs separate memory cards?!

The history of Nokia

Founded in 1865 (although not making mobile phones back then, obviously…), Nokia are easily the world’s biggest mobile phone manufacturer, with a market share, worldwide of a massive 40%, easily more than any of their competitors. Based in Espoo, Finland, Nokia stand for quality and innovation, and it’s this that has allowed them to dominate the marketplace, and become the biggest and most important company in Finland.

Plus, it’s fair to say Nokia have made some of the highest-selling mobile phones in history.

If you’re over a certain age, and can remember back before the days of RAZR’s and Nseries phones, you may very well remember the Nokia 3210 and Nokia 3310, two of the best-selling mobile phones in the history of ever. Most people either had one, know someone who had one, or came into contact with one, at some point in their lives. They were EVERYWHERE (mostly with people playing Snake on them).

But they weren’t the best-selling mobile phone in history. That honour goes to yet another Nokia! In fact, it was the little Nokia 1100, according to Reuters. Mind you, it’s not that surprising, since it was a basic, cheap and cheerful little phone, and that’s all some of you want, which is cool. But then, another lot of you reading this want smartphones, and that’s cool, too.

That’s why you see such a rich diversity in the mobile phones Nokia bring out!

With over 112,000 employees in 120 countries, as well as manufacturing and R&D centres round the world, Nokia really are at the top of their game! But then, you just have to look at their stunning range of handsets to see how good they are!
