Pay as you go mobile phones
So, what is it that defines a pay as you go mobile phone? Well, it’s a simple answer, and it’s what sets them apart from pay monthly phones; with pay as you go mobile phones, you put top-up (credit) on your phone before you use it. Any calls, texts, photo messages or internet use you use then comes out of that big hunk of credit (unless you’ve added bundles on… more on that in a minute)
That’s the big difference: with pay monthly, you pay a monthly bill to the network, after you’ve been using the mobile phone for that particular month. With pay as you go mobile phones, you put the credit on the phone in advance, and then use it when you need it (the ‘as you go’ part). That’s why those two types are also known as post-pay and pre-pay mobile phones, respectively.
The obvious benefit of you getting a pay as you go mobile phone is that you don’t have that monthly bill to worry about. You control your spending on the phone, and you don’t have to pay for something you might not need, or you might not necessarily want. And that makes pay as you go mobile phones perfect for low users. So, if you just want a phone for emergencies, to chuck in the glove compartment of your car, and only use if your wheels fall off (hey, it could happen!), a pay as you go mobile phone would be perfect for you.
Oh, and some pay as you go mobile phones let you add bundles of… well, stuff onto them, the best example being 3’ Add-Ons, where you can add on (surprise, surprise) things like internet bundles, mobile TV bundles or video calling bundles, to give you free stuff for a fixed fee. Soooo, for example, you could get a mobile TV bundle and get access to TV on your mobile phone, to save you from using your credit on it.
So, if you want complete control over what you spend, or if you want something just for emergencies, or even if you just don’t want to sign up for a contract, what you need is a pay as you go mobile phone!
