About LG

When you’re talking about LG mobile phones, there’s one that stands out as their most successful handset of all time, in the UK, a phone with full touchscreen, awesomely overpowered camera phone. That phone is, of course, the LG Viewty. Sitting inside that wonderfully sleek body is a full touchscreen interface (that’s an absolute joy to use), and the one of most feature-packed 5 megapixel camera ever conceived, including things like super-slo-mo video mode, and ISO low light shooting.
Sitting just below it in the LG product range is a mobile phone that can be best described as ‘slightly less feature-packed, but even better looking!’ Appropriately named after the goddess of love, it’s the stunning LG Venus. The 3 megapixel camera lets you grab stunning photos wherever you are, and the sleek, sliding body, complete with touchpad navigation (replacing the concept of ‘clicky buttons’ under the screen), make this one truly mouth-watering mobile phone!
If glossy touchscreens aren’t your thing, then maybe you’d prefer a metal-bodied phone with touch sensitive buttons, but without the full mini-touchscreen. In that case, what you need is the LG KF510 Silver, a mobile phone with the same 3 megapixel camera, but wrapped up in a new metal frame, with toughened glass screen. It’s yet another beauty in LG’s jaw-dropping line-up!
The history of LG
Life’s Good with LG. That’s how the slogan goes, and you know what? It’s true! Based in Korea, LG is a leading manufacturer of consumer electronics, including mobile phones, TV’s… well, you name it, LG can probably make it! Founded in 1947, they actually took the name LG in 1995, replacing the original name, Lucky Goldstar. You’ll agree, LG is a much snappier name!
As with any big company, though (Vodafone springs to mind), they sponsor things outside their industry, sports or events that let them put something back into the community. With LG, they sponsor the LG Cup, a tournament for the game ‘Go’, a super-strategic board game, wildly popular in China, Korea and Japan. Of course, it’s not all fun, as they have to actually do some business stuff, to stay in business, and to hit other markets, they have joint ventures with Philips (for LCD screens), Hitachi (for DVD-ROM drives and CD-Writers) and Zenith (American TV manufacturer).
In 2007, LG really set out their stall for what was to come from their mobile phones. They’d made ‘design’ phones before, and they’d made ‘feature’ phones. Now, it was time to merge the two, and make gorgeous phones that do more. No more would LG follow the crowd! Instead, they would innovate, and have others follow them! So, every LG phone from now on will be that magical combination of gorgeous design and killer features. And you know what? It’s still very true. Life’s Good (or Great, or Groovy, or Gorgeous, you choose…), with LG.
When you consider that ‘Lucky’, the company who joined Goldstar to make LG, were more known for making toothpaste and detergent, it’s really quite awesome that they now make some of the most desirable mobile phones on the planet!
