About Dialaphone

We can make your life easier, by comparing mobile phone deals from around the country, and from all the biggest and best retailers. You need to make an informed choice about what’s the right deal for you, and we’ll help you do that, as well as giving you all you need to know about Dial-a-Phone.

As one of the internet’s premier retailers of mobile phones, Dial-a-Phone have a reputation for speedy service and excellent deals. In fact, the whole company is built around that principle; about giving the customer the best mobile phone deals and value for money.

So, what kind of deals can you expect from this famous retailer? Well despite being owned by Phones 4U, Dial-a-Phone do still have their own distinct identity, and their own deals. So, for example, they have available the Samsung U600, part of Samsung’s Ultra Edition range, and still one of the thinnest handsets Samsung have ever made. That’s available through Dial-a-Phone. Also available through them is the Nokia N95 8Gb, the most high-spec version of the N-series masterpiece.

Of course, it’s not just about mobile phones, as they also offer mobile broadband packages. In fact, you can get both Orange mobile broadband and Three mobile broadband (with the stunning, sleek USB Modem Black) from Dial-a-Phone.

The history of Dialaphone

Dial-a-Phone was first founded in 1995 by Richard Frank and Jonathan Beck, and as direct suppliers of mobile phones, their mantra is very much “cutting out the middle man”. There are a couple of benefits to that strategy, specifically that customers get the best in convenience and great savings from Dial-a-Phone.

It’s that choice that Dial-a-Phone most pride themselves on, working with all the major networks and mobile phone manufacturers to give the best deals to their customers. That’s not to say they don’t have a sense of humour, though, since one of the things they proudly show on their website is the sheer number of misspelled versions of the name ‘Dial-a-Phone’, that people use to try and find them. Some of them are rather funny:
• Dialphone
• Dial aphone
• Dilaphone
• Dila phone
• Dia-a-phone
• Diaaphone
• Dial a pone
• Dialophone
• Dial-a-fone
• Dialafone
• Dialaphon
• Xialaphone
Mind you, that last one is pretty funny! The biggest event in the world of Dial-a-Phone, though, has to be the recent buyout by Phones4U, for the sum of £9 million, which may not seem much, until you realise that Richard Frank only sold the brand and core assets of Dial-a-Phone for that amount. As for the real money spinner, their insurance business (worth about £35m) and ongoing revenue streams (about £25m)… well, Frank kept hold of those!

Let’s not underestimate it, though, the Phones4U buyout is the most massive thing ever to happen to Dial-a-Phone, not least because it meant Dial-a-Phone could now put back on site a lot of the deals they couldn’t have before. In 2006/2007, both Vodafone and Orange pulled out of Dial-a-Phone, but now, under the Phones4U family tree, both have them are back in the list of deals.

Nowadays, as before, Dial-a-Phone play to their strengths, providing superb value deals, and they remain one of the major marketers out there, using both the internet and ads in the daily newspapers. (Think back, if you read The Sun, or The Mirror, or so on… bet you’ve seen a Dial-a-Phone advert!) That’s fine by the parent company, because it means they can focus their two separate brands on two separate areas: Phones4U for those who hunger for gadgets, and Dial-a-Phone for those who hunger for value.

All in all, Dial-a-Phone are going from strength to strength, and it’s easy to see why they’re one of the big 3 in the game, alongside Carphone warehouse and Phones4U. Except they’re part of Phones4U, so maybe that makes it the big 2? Either way, Dial-a-Phone are on the up and up!
