The history of BT Mobile

It’s true that BT are well known for their home phone and broadband internet packages but, the fact is, BT don’t just do packages for your home. If you’re out and about they also have great mobile phone deals for you in the form of BT Mobile. Now you may remember how, originally, BT had a different mobile network and some of your may remember the name BT Cellnet. This used to be part of BT until they sold it off and it became O2, all of which left BT without their own mobile phone network.

It was inevitable really that they’d form another one and, in 2003, they did just that by forming BT Mobile. But this was, and still is, a network with a difference. It’s what’s called an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), meaning they use other people’s mobile phone masts which is a good thing because BT Mobile save money on maintenance and this, in turn, makes you save money.

Not only that, but with the range of packages BT Mobile offer, you can add on additional users and mobilise your whole family! So, you get all that along with the peace of mind that comes from being with BT, the same company doing your home phone and the company whose customer service you know and trust!
